What is Tour de Laemmle?
Tour de Laemmle 2018 (aka “TDL”)is a 135-mile community cycling event that visits all nine Laemmle Theatres in the L.A. County region. It takes place Sunday, July 29, 2018 and will be led by Laemmle President GREG LAEMMLE and WAYNE RIDETIME HOWARD of RideTime Cycling. During the event riders will enjoy limited support as described in the sections below.
This event is open to All AGES. Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Wearing a bike helmet on Tour de Laemmle is mandatory.
Qualifications & Pace
Tour de Laemmle is recommend for SKILLED RIDERS only. The pace on the road is expected to average 16-20mph on the flats, but could exceed that at times.
Whether you enjoy riding with the pack or prefer flying solo, you’re encouraged to do TDL at your OWN PACE. However, riders who are advised by the “Sweep” or any Ride Marshall that they are moving too slowly may be DROPPED from the event and will no longer be supported. The decision of the Sweep or Ride Marshall in such matters is final and non-negotiable. Note, the TDL route was designed to often run along or near public transportation lines to assist with bail out and return.
The route will be published online in advance of the event at TourDeLaemmle.com. There will be for a link to the downloadable map when it becomes available.
Check-In & Departure
All riders must check-in on the day of the event before riding. Check-in will begin at 6:00am at Laemmle’s Monica Film Center in Santa Monica.
The event will start at 7:00am with a GROUP ROLL-OUT. The route will not be considered “open” until the official group start. Late riders must complete required paperwork, ready their equipment, and start riding before 7:15am to be considered part of the ride. Riders may not join the event mid-route.
Pit Stops & Schedule
In addition to the Monica Film Center (start/end), there will be five official pit stops at
various Laemmle Theatre venues. The Tour will also recommend optional, non-official stops such as parks or convenience marts along the route.
All official theatre pit stops will OPEN and CLOSE at appointed times. Riders who do not depart a stop by the official “Closure” time will no longer be supported or considered part of the ride. Closure times will be posted in advance of the ride
All those who participate in the Tour are invited to a post-ride party at the Monica Film Center in Santa Monica, starting approx. 5pm and ending at 10pm.
All registered participants who ride and finish the ENTIRE course during the event will receive a free pair of custom “TDL Socks.” Those who make it to the final pit stop (on their bikes!) at Laemmle’s Town Center 5 venue, but are unable to finish due to either of the following reasons will also be “sock-eligible:”

– Injury sustained during the event due to collision or fall
